The entire planet has basically been reduced to a desert. There are random collections of vegetations or small swamp(More like mud) lands across the post apocalyptic earth but it's mostly sand, rubble or desert icelands. Roughly only Pretty much the only water left on earth is from the oceans, which are much larger due to the melting of the polar ice caps over the century. However, because of their high salt and bacteria content, the water isn't immediately drinkable.

The only sources of fresh water is usual from rain, underground springs and those mountain rivers that are now more like random puddles and muddy banks. The earth's largest and most blooming cities now lay in ruins, shattered glass, broken brick and stone, snapped and crumpled metal now lay strewn across the ground.

There are forests left, naturally, but they're not alive and blooming. More like a grave yard of trees; their bark darkened like coal and ash, branches bare or covered in brown and red dead leaves. Dead and dying grass and plants are usually what's scattered across the forest floor. If you look close enough, you may find an edible herb here or there.. but it's rare. Unless it's cacti. Which speaking of, we'll have another section just for the more frequently eaten and edible things in this setting.

Most people are collected into seaside cities and camps that have been rebuilt over centuries. City sized camps of animal skin, cloth tents, sand bricks and/or Caravans are now common places for people to live; most acting as trading posts or traveling between. Which is why they are almost constantly raided by bandits and monsters. Meaning most people travel in Caravans more often than not. Trading posts/Caravans and their people most commonly commission creatures like the Weres to act as protectors and guardians in exchange for food, shelter and other such necessities. Humans, Weres and Anthros are commonly integrated into a society. While they all usually have their more specific quirks and boundaries, most work well together and can easily compromise.

Humans aren't considered very expendable, the more around, the better chance of survival everyone has. Funny twist, no? Being that Humans and Werefoxes have the highest magical abilities, they're more coveted for survival. However, that does not mean that Weres or Anthros aren't needed as well. Humans don't exactly come up to par with Gnormats, even in groups, so Weres and Anthros are extremely needed for protection, scouting and lookout purposes.

The earths population is down to a few 10's of thousands, the humanoid race struggling to survive due to the lack of food, water and the constant attacks from the Gnormats.
